A day camp for economically disadvantage youth ages 6 - 14 in rural Alabama
Campers come to camp at no cost and there is no staff fee.
All participants are asked to bring themselves and a humble and joyful
spirit! We have over 400 campers participate between the two sessions and over 200 staff volunteers help to put camp on for these wonderful children. It is a learning experience for the staff volunteers as well as a joyful and wonderful experience for the campers.
Sawyerville is one of many rural towns in the Blackbelt region of
the state . It is almost 2 hours southwest of Birmingham. The camp
has outgrown its original location at the Head Start center in
Sawyerville and has moved over the years to Akron and the town over,
Greensboro. This year we will hold the camp at Greensboro Elementary. We continue to serve campers from all over Hale County. The staff motto's is "It is all for the kids!"
