A day camp for economically disadvantage youth ages 6 - 14 in rural Alabama

Campers come to camp at no cost and there is no staff fee.  All participants are asked to bring themselves and a humble and joyful spirit!  In 2008 we served 210 campers with almost 80 children on the waiting list.  We had the largest staff yet which included 72 youth, college and adult staff volunteers.  We had 14 on the youth staff waiting list.

Sawyerville is one of many rural towns in the Blackbelt region of the state .   It is almost 2 hours southwest of Birmingham.  The camp has outgrown its original location at the Head Start center in Sawyerville and has moved over the years to Akron and the town over, Greensboro.  This year (2009) we will hold the camp at the Sunshine School in Newbern.  We continue to serve campers from all over Hale County.  God has blessed this ministry with abundance over the year!
