Sawyerville, in Hale County, Alabama, is located at the junction of State Highway 14 and County Road 17, just between Eutaw and Greensboro, almost 2 hours southwest of Birmingham. It is a rural crossroads community with limited educational, medical, and employment resources and is one of many rural towns in the Blackbelt region of
the state.
The camp
has outgrown its original location at the Head Start center in
Sawyerville and has moved over the years to Akron and the town over,
Greensboro. In 2009 camp was held at the Sunshine School in Newbern Alabama because of construction at the Greensboro city schools. Many thanks to those who helped make camp happen at the Sunshine School! The 2010 camps will take place at Greensboro Elementary.
