Our Vision

We find our growth and success to be a happy problem.  We are prayerfully considering how and where the project should grow next and and how will we continue to joyfully live into our vision.

In August of 2009 the Sawyerville Commission (the steering committee for the camp) came together for a visioning retreat. We invited an outstanding group facilitator to help lead us in a day of sharing and dreaming about the future.

Here are some of the results of our time together:

Short term-consideration and/or implementation within 3 years

-Even more collaboration of churches, towns, counties--particularly on the local level
-Stepping Stone to:

  • Teaching campers leadership skills in an even more intentional way
  • Increasing the number of week long sessions (as long as there is a need)
  • "Grown-up Camp" for parents and adults of Hale County
  • On-going programming in community-addressing specific boy/girl issues, life skills, educational formation, music, arts, sports as well as bible studies and opportunities for fellowship
  •  Parenting seminars for adults in the community
  • Overnight camp--build housing facility

 Long term-consideration and/or implementation 5-10 years

  • Building a community center to use as a home base for camp & other enrichment activities
  • Offering year round community services
